Spiritual Truth . . . With A Giggle

Home

One author's quest to present God's truths with joy

Psalm 71:23
My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you — I, whom you have redeemed.

WHY THE GIGGLES?

All my life, I've loved to laugh. It bubbles out of me, usually at inappropriate moments. After I had accepted Jesus Christ as Lord of my life thirty years ago, my giggling only got worse. Something about the joy of the Lord. However, God has taught me how to control my un-serious side, and has led me on a journey of sharing His word with a lightness that draws the reader in and touches them where they live.

WHAT'S NEW!

Some of my friends have agreed to host me on their sites to promote Florida Weddings. Please save these dates on your calendars. I'll talk about different things at each site.

SCHEDULE:

  • TODAY! Wed, June 11 - Paula Moldenhauer has reprinted my article from Seekerville. "Take Your Passion and Make It Happen" is about my writing walk and how I got that first contract for Merely Players. www.gracereign.blogspot.com
  • Wed, June 18 - Rachel Hauck has asked me to talk about my book. Come on over and hear about the ways I inserted symbolism. (Preview: Is it just a storm?) www.rachelhauck.com/blog.htm
  • Sat, June 22 - Angie Breidenbach will feature another article, "An Elephant In My Pajamas - The Importance of Critique Groups." I will give practical tips on forming and maintaining a critique group, as well as talk about the important role my critters played in polishing up Merely Players. http://writingbyfaith.blogspot.com
  • Wed, July 2 - Margie Vawter will offer a brief review and an interview on my writing process. I will tell about my research, and how difficult it was to pin down the manager of the Gulfarium while he was evacuating for a hurricane.
  • Wed, July 9 - Tiff Stockton will also interview me. http://www.ambermiller.com

Stay tuned, I may have others who would like to finish out July.

Florida Weddings is now in stores! To celebrate its launch, I'm a guest blogger on Seekerville. Come on over to read my article, "Take Your Passion and Make It Happen," dated June 4, 2008. I talk about my writing walk and how God finally used this writing passion born within me.

I've redone my blog! Not only does it have a kicky new graphic, I've consolidated my Giggling Grandma blog with my main one, Blog...With A Giggle. I felt I was spread too far and decided to include my whole life in one place. I have also included direct links to my short stories and devotions. I wish I had done that earlier, but I didn't know about labels when I set these up. So, if you're family, or just want to see the cutest grandkids on the planet, look for Giggling Grandma under "Labels" in the right hand column on the blog. Right now a precious pic of middle gdaughter, Sabella, and a conversation she had with Daddy. Check it out

I have several cool events to report:

  • I'll be speaking at the Hudson Public Library on April 19 at 10:00 AM. Come to hear "Left vs Right Smackdown".

Are the two sides of your brain wrestling with each other? Does the calculated left side tend to overpower the creative right side . . . or vice versa? Learn to organize your thoughts to free up your creativity. Email me for more info!

  • I'm also speaking to a group of non-writers for the first time. It's a reader's club who will discuss my novella, "Cookie Schemes" from the book Love Letters. This is exciting and scary!

  • ACFW Colorado Retreat, April 25-26. Topic: “The Courage to Pursue Your Writing Dreams”. Speaker: Paula Moldenhauer. Open to ACFW members only. Go to my blog for more info!

This is the coolest news ever! Every year Heartsong Presents polls their readers, and I was in the top five of new author favorites. I'd go into my "You like me, you really like me" speech, but I'll spare you the 80's flashback.

HAPPY NEW YEAR
My year started out right when I found out that RomanticTimes.com gave Love Letters a 3 star rating! Wahoo! If you haven't read it yet, please click on the title cover to the right to see how to order online. It's also available in Family Christian Stores. If it's not in stock, be sure to ask them to order it for you, and tell them it's listed under "Davis", as Mary Davis is the first author alphabetically in this novella collection.
